George Maliphant [##45004]
The majority of the Maliphants in Australia are descended from George g45.
On 22 May 1860, George g44 and his daughter Elizabeth [##45003] sailed on the ‘Orient’ from London, and arrived in Port Adelaide, South Australia on Friday 24 August 1860.
George g45 himself arrived in Australia in 1862.
George g44 erected the smelting plants in South Australia and George g45 worked alongside him. However, by 1870 George g45 was supervising the building of furnaces in Newcastle, NSW, and was later a senior partner in Maliphant & Burns and Maliphant & Tay.
